Itβs hard to believe that Summer has come and gone, Term 1 is over (how did that happen? π€―) and the Easter long weekend is here.π° 2023 has hit the ground running, life is busy, workplaces have ramped right up and you and your team have no doubt earned your upcoming break.
But with high workloads and competing priorities, some of us might feel that this is easier said than done!
What can you do as a team so you donβt feel guilty about taking time off and switching off - so everyone can recharge and recover?
Here are a few simple tips for you to try out to ensure a guilt-free Easter break:
Permission Granted: As a team, discuss the importance of everyone taking time off over the Easter break to reconnect, recharge and recover. Grant permission for everyone to disconnect from work and enjoy their time away from the office (and their laptops and phones).
Set the lead: As a valued member of the team, and especially if you are the leader, make sure that you take time off yourself (unless you work in a business that operates over the break or itβs urgent of course). When the team sees everyone, especially the leader at the top, prioritising wellbeing, they will be more likely to follow the lead and feel comfortable to do the same.
Avoid contact: During the long weekend, avoid contacting your team, a sneaky email (e.g. reminder for Tuesday) as this can destroy your teamβs time off as they might feel pressure to respond or even worse, start anticipating the workload waiting for them after the long weekend, and this will destroy their recovery time.
Wishing you all a wonderful and safe Easter to you. π°
Enjoy your break and we look forward to welcoming you back to work, feeling refreshed, recharged and energised to kick some serious goals in Quarter 2, 2023!
