Lessons from millennials about how to make the impossible, possible!
At Human Incite, we believe in creating the right kinda riots within organisations.
Yeah I know, sounds a little antagonistic but I promise we are far from it. We care about how to create meaningful connections within organisations to generate the right kinda energy, passion & behaviours to drive results.
Ultimately, we are about creating positive movements, by harnessing the human spirit!
A wonderful example of harnessing the human spirit is the Australian social enterprise, Thankyou. (btw, it has a full stop at the end of the name). This story demonstrates how a bunch of passionate millennials created the right kinda riots within the community by connecting with them to spark a social movement, positively impacting the lives of thousands of people worldwide.
Thankyou. have an inspiring purpose:
“We believe we can end global poverty in this lifetime, together.”
Now, let’s put this into perspective. Three 19 year olds, with no degree, no money, no experience, believing they can put an end to global poverty in this lifetime! Sounds crazy don’t you think!
Crazy, maybe, yet awe-inspiring at the same time. Their vision is a huge stretch, so purposeful & it cleverly connects us, the community, in their quest, with one simple word, together!
What the team at Thankyou. also had was:
- A great idea (to donate profits from retail sales to fund charitable projects in disadvantaged countries)
- Enormous passion
- A huge motivating 'why' (1 billion people living in extreme poverty)
- Naivety to the business world (& a willingness to do things others would say is impossible)
- Eagerness to learn
- Willingness to break rules
- Unwillingness to give up or give in
- A belief in others to help make their vision come to life
Thankyou. connected with us, their potential customers & ambassadors in their quest to end global poverty, in a way that many organisations could learn a lesson or two. They not only take us on the journey, they rely on us, to make it possible & are completely transparent in the process.
And talk about GUTSY!
They have broken all the rules to make it happen & I love that! The team very cleverly utilised the power of social media to encourage the community to engage & influence potential distributors (7-Eleven & the two major supermarkets, Coles & Woolies) by posting a message or video on their respective company Facebook page, urging them to stock Thankyou. products.
Who said peer pressure is always a bad thing? It was bloody risky & bloody genius.
Check out an overview of their gutsy & successful campaign which highlights the power of harnessing the human spirit to make the impossible, possible.
You will be hearing lots from me about this amazing organisation. It’s disrupters like Thankyou. who are going to continue to create the right kinda riots to make workplaces & this world a better place!
What kind of energy, spirit & behaviours do you need in your organisation to get closer to the outcomes you desire?
- More importantly do they exist?
- What do you need to do to connect yourself or your team to your organisation to make a difference?
P.S. If you want to support the Thankyou. cause & help put an end to global poverty in this lifetime, grab your own copy of 'CHAPTER ONE' by Daniel Flynn, co-founder who shares the story of Thankyou. All profits from the book go towards funding the next stage of the Thankyou. journey where you can be a part of this incredible quest.
Keep connecting, keep challenging!
Until next time.

We believe we can end global poverty in this lifetime, together. That's why we give 100% of the profits from our awesome products to helping people in need.
Almost a billion people live in extreme poverty, while six billion people don't. We reckon the six billion of us could work together to put an end to global poverty, for good.

Chapter One is more than a book. It’s an invitation, addressed to you. To inspire you to challenge what you know and remind you that crazy ideas can become a reality. It’s also an opportunity to be a part of something big. Something that could change the course of history.
